Battle Shows Midas Touch at 2012 ADDYs

Here’s a secret – Gold ADDY Awards aren’t really made of gold. We wish they were. Because if they were, we could say “Gold ADDY Awards aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of creative blood, sweat, and tears.” But, we can’t say that. Because they’re not. Made of gold.

In any case, at the recent 2012 ADDY Awards, Battle put on a dazzling display of creative alchemy, parlaying our collective blood, sweat and tears into 12 Gold ADDY Awards as well as a Best of Show for Interactive marketing. Yes, the spoils were gratuitous and left us feeling a bit drunk and giddy. Actually, the free flowing booze left us drunk. The Awards left us giddy. We also walked away with 6 Silver Awards, which should all have been Gold – those judges are crazy.

Battle Shrinks the Planet

For better or for worse, the days of Battle being the clichéd “5 man shop” are long gone. Today, we have a global client base, and talent located in London, New York, Osaka – even the booming metropolis of Townsend, Tennessee. So – how to bring all of these creative reprobates together for a virtual evening of unapologetic self -congratulation and drunken hob knobbery?

Go Guerrila.

For this year’s ADDY Awards, we dipped into Battle’s well of technical expertise to shrink the planet – on the cheap. We streamed the event live from an iPhone to Justin.TV, which was then shared via HD Faces in GoToMeeting. Abracadabra – virtual attendance at a live event. This allowed Battle cheerleaders in Tennessee and Cincinnati to watch while tornadoes swirled overhead and in London to shout “Fuck, yeah” at 4AM while their loved ones pleaded with them to go to bed.

The experiment was an unparalleled success. Next year, we are going to send one intern with a helmet cam and briefcase (for the loot).

Battle Launches Royal Caribbean Productions Website

Ahoy. Probably one of the last things you would expect to do on a big boat is enjoy a Broadway-caliber production of Chicago or Hairspray. Well, on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCI), you should expect the unexpected. When the South Florida swashbucklers do anything, they do it big, they do it well, and they do it with gusto. And, when it came time to refresh their onboard entertainment website they not only did it with gusto, they did it with Battle.

Battle works with organizations throughout the Royal Caribbean family, and has worked with Royal Caribbean Productions (RCP) since 2002. RCP is responsible for producing every ounce of the award-winning entertainment onboard RCI’s fleet of over 30 ships. They manage an army of performers and technicians and pump out theatrical pyrotechnics that reap industry accolades year-after-year. The RCP website has long been a valuable recruitment tool and a showcase for onboard shows and keeping content current and on-brand is a must.

The latest website iteration comes packaged with show video, audition alerts, a super duper CMS, and a much, much needed alignment with the corporate brand.
